Ross, having gained a keen interest and three A-levels in science at Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School, decided to study at Merrist Wood college, where in 2006 he achieved a City and Guilds in Arboriculture and the practical NPTC units CS 30,31,38,39 together with Lantra awards in stump grinder and wood chipper operations.
